M2 metro is running on the entire line again
Following Tuesday's power failure, metro traffic on the entire line M2 resumed service from Thursday morning, after BKV specialists had replaced the cables damaged by the short circuit. BKV and BKK thank passengers travelling in the capital city for their patience and understanding.
A power supply circuit breaker failed on metro line M2 on Tuesday, 8 April, after 6 p.m. The circuit breaker malfunction caused a short circuit, also damaging the cables of the safety device, which had to be replaced. The technical fault has now been mended; thus, the metro will run on the full line again, i.e. all the way up to Örs vezér tere, from the start of operations on Thursday. Dozens of BKV specialists have been working continuously since Tuesday evening to resolve the disruption, replacing the cable bundles damaged by the short circuit, including control cables. Their activity was complicated by the fact that they often had to work in narrow, difficult-to-access areas. After the cable replacement, the section was tested, and the test run was completed without any errors; as a consequence, service could be reestablished. BKK specialists reorganized traffic in the area; during the power outage, 20 buses, mostly articulated ones, took part in the replacement, and trolleybus 80 ran more frequently. BKV and BKK thank all passengers for their patience and understanding.
