Opening hours: 08:00 -22:00

Tickets are sold until 21:50

It runs continuously in every 5-10 minutes according to the passenger demand.

The Funicular is closed on every Monday on odd weeks during the period of the maintenance works, unless these Mondays are on public holidays. In this case, maintenance work will be performed on the first working day after the bank holiday.

Accessibility

1013 Budapest, District I., Clark Ádám tér - Szent György tér

The valley station is situated on Clark Ádám tér at the Buda side of the Chain Bridge beside the Tunnel.

The mountain station is located on Szent György tér between the Palace of Buda Castle and the Presidential Palace.

The lower station is accessible via buses 16 and 105 and trams 19 and 41.

The upper station can be approached by buses 16, 16A and 116.

Tickets:

* From the age of 3 until the day before the 15th birthday 

** The discount applies to passengers with valid residence card. The residence card must be shown to the cashier, but no photo is taken of it. Local resident ticket can be purchased at the cashier of the Buda Castle Funicular only.

Free travel applies for children under the age of 3.

Discounts for pensioners and other travel discounts are not available.

The two-way ticket is valid for one uphill and one downhill ride, while the one-way ticket entitles you to travel in any direction during official opening hours.

The funicular ticket is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase, while the Funicular + Boat ticket is valid for 30 days.    

In the case of the two-way ticket, if only one ride is taken, it is possible to take another one-way ride within 1 year from the date of purchase.

BKV Zrt. does not accept damaged or illegible tickets.

Pets and dogs:
Small pets are allowed to be transported free of charge in a carrier bag, the size of which does not exceed the size of hand-luggage. Large dogs can be transported with a full price ticket purchased for them, they have to be muzzled, be on a leash and in clean condition. The vaccination certificate of the dog shall be shown for the request of the operator’s employee.

Request for an invoice

The invoice is issued at the Budavári Sikló cashier's office upon purchase, and the invoices are issued by the cashiers on site. Please indicate your request for an invoice before starting your purchase. We are unable to issue an invoice afterwards.  When purchasing

online at www.siklojegy.hu, you can only request an invoice during the purchase process; we are unable to issue one afterwards. We can only issue bank transfer invoices to our contracted partners or after prior order; for this, please contact us at  sikloszamla@bkv.hu .

GROUP CHILDREN DISCOUNT ON THE BUDA CASTLE FUNICULAR:
Student groups of at least 10 people and their adult companions can use the Buda Castle Funicular with Discounted (aged 3-14) type ticket!

The discount can be valid:

• from 3 to 14 years old (from the age of 3 to the day before the age of 15)
