In quest of centuries-old secrets - open day at the 120-year-old Ferencváros tram depot
BKV is holding its last open day of the year on Saturday, 19th October. This time, the Ferencváros tram depot opens its doors to visitors. Young and old keen on transportation can take a closer look at several heritage trams and rarely seen freight carriages, e.g. muki, but there will also be an opportunity to test driving a tram. On guided tours, participants can also visit the famous Ferenc current transformer next to the depot.
Visitors need to register and be at least 18 years old for the tram test driving. A Tatra training tram can be driven in the depot area, of course under expert supervision. The depot tours offer a glimpse of the work going on at the site, the groups leave every twenty minutes from 10:20 a.m. To join the groups, prior online registration is required. In addition, a limited number of people wishing to attend can apply on site.
The free event lasts from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but after closing, the 30 transport enthusiasts who register the fastest can take part in a half-hour vehicle photo session.
